Reckless Joy Ride Lands One in Jail

On Thursday July 23, at approximately 11:30 p.m., while on routine patrol, Dfc. C. Dodson observed a 1994 Oldsmobile driving down McArthur Blvd in the area of Halsey Ct. with a person riding on the hood of the car.
The car proceeded out of the Shoppers Food Warehouse parking lot onto MacArthur Blvd when Dodson pulled over the vehicle. The driver, Richard Allen Alford, 28 of Lusby was charged with reckless driving and for driving without the required license and authorization.
After inquiring about licenses for the other two men and discovering that none had a valid license, the car was impounded and towed. Allen was taken into custody and the other two occupants were picked up from the scene by family members.
The final charges against Allen are: Reckless Driving carrying a $510 fine. He was charged as a person driving a motor vehicle on a highway or public property on a suspended license and privilege. A third charge against Allen was Driving/Attempting to Drive a Motor Vehicle on a Highway without the Required License and Authorization.
