UPDATE: 9-Year-Old Upgraded to Fair Condition After Being Struck on Bicycle

UPDATE: According to Charles County Authorities, the 9-year-old boy hit by a car while riding his bike in Charles County on July 8, is now in fair condition.
The boy, of Indian Head, was taken to Children's National Medical Center with life-threatening injuries according to police. His condition was upgraded July 9, a hospital spokeswoman said.
On July 8 at 6:50 p.m., officers responded to the 6900 block of Heather Drive in Bryans Road for the report of a child struck by a car.
According to witnesses, the child, a 9-year-old boy from Indian Head, was maneuvering his bicycle around the front of a parked ice cream truck when he was struck by a Dodge Stratus traveling south on Heather Drive.
The driver of the vehicle, a 16-year-old girl from Bryans Road, stopped and remained on the scene. The child was flown to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Officer R. Williams of the Traffic Operations Unit is handling the investigation.
