On June 29, at 12:49 a.m., Deputy H. Adams responded to a residence in Leonardtown for the report of a domestic assault.

While conducting an investigation into the alleged assault, Joseph L. Mason, 35 of Mechanicsville, began acting in a disorderly manner in the parking lot.  Mason was instructed several times to cease his actions but refused.  Mason was placed under arrest and placed in the rear of a patrol vehicle.

Upon arrival at the Detention Center Mason was removed from the vehicle and Deputy Adams discovered Mason had discarded a baggie containing suspected marijuana on the floorboard of the vehicle.  Mason was subsequently charged with disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
