K-9 Called to Traffic Stop to Make Drug Bust

While traveling south on Md. Route 4 in the area of Parran Road in Lusby, on May 12 at 7:17 p.m., DFC Aaron Locke observed a vehicle traveling 95 mph in a posted 55 mph speed zone.
He conducted a traffic stop and detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. DFC Joseph Windsor and K-9 Azor arrived and Azor began a scan of the vehicle, alerting to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.
Suspected marijuana, a digital scale, and a large amount of Ziploc baggies, used to contain marijuana, were found inside the vehicle.
The driver, identified as Jeffrey E. Johnson, 27 of Capitol Heights, was arrested and charged with the following, possession of marijuana, in sufficient quantity to indicate intent to distribute same, possession of marijuana, use and possession with the intent to use drug paraphernalia, various Ziploc bags used to pack, store, and contain marijuana and use and possession with the intent to use drug paraphernalia, a digital scale used to process and package marijuana.
