Calvert Crash Involving 2 Motorcycles Leaves One Dead

UPDATE: April 27 Official Police Report

On Saturday, April 25 at 11:16 a.m., Daniel James Reed, 54 of Riverdale was driving a 2001 Harley Road King motorcycle southbound on Md. Route 261 in the area of Breezy Point Road. 

Two vehicles were stopped in the roadway, waiting to turn left onto Breezy Point Road.  Reed lost control of his motorcycle and was ejected into northbound traffic.  He was struck by a 2005 Harley Road King motorcycle driven by Brian Keith McCutcheon, 44 of Owings. 

McCutcheon and a passenger, Karen L. McCutcheon, 45 of Owings, were both ejected from their motorcycle.  Reed was pronounced dead at the scene.  Brian McCutcheon was transported by MSP Trooper 7 to P.G. Shock Trauma with non-incapacitating injuries.  Karen McCutcheon was transported via ambulance to Calvert Memorial Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. 

The crash is currently under investigation by the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team.


At approximately 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, Fire and Rescue Units in Calvert including North Beach, responded to a call that went out as “three motorcycles down” at the intersection of Bayside Road and Breezy Point Beach Road in Northern Calvert.

Details of the accident are sketchy at this time. Some witnesses on the scene report that one victim, flown out by Trooper 2, was male and that a second victim was transported to Calvert Hospital. A third victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

There is no other information available to report until authorities release the data to the media.
