UPDATE 5 p.m.
Preliminary investigation reveals vehicle # 1, a 2004 Toyota Tacoma, operated by Blanche Cecil Laungayan, 60 of Callaway, was exiting the parking lot of Southern Maryland Electric Company.
Vehicle # 2, a St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer, operated by Corporal Milton Pesante, 35, was traveling southbound on Route 245 towards Leonardtown. The driver of the Toyota failed to yield the right of way and was stuck by the Chevrolet.
As a result of the collision, Blanche Laungayan was ejected from the Toyota and pronounced dead at the scene. The three-year-old passenger in the Toyota was transported to St. Mary's Hospital and subsequently flown to Children’s Hospital. The driver of the Chevrolet was uninjured.
St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Collision Re-constructionist, Sergeant Edward Evans is the primary investigator of the collision. Witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Sgt. Evans at (301) 475-4200 ext. 9018.
UPDATE 3 p.m.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Team is continuing the investigation into the fatal motor vehicle collision which occurred on March 5, on Hollywood Road in Leonardtown.
The operator of vehicle #1, (Tan Toyota Tacoma) was a 60-year-old female from Callaway The juvenile passenger in vehicle #1 is a 3-year-old male, from Leonardtown. The operator of vehicle #2, (Silver Trail Blazer) is a 35-year-old male from Lexington Park and a seven year veteran of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office who was on duty at the time of the collision.
The juvenile passenger was initially transported to St. Mary’s Hospital, but has subsequently been flown to Children’s Hospital in Washington DC.
At this point in the investigation the names of the parties involved are not being released.

UPATE 1:30 p.m.
Sources tell TheBAYNET.com, that the driver of Vehicle #2, a Chevrolet Trail Blazer was driven by a law enforcement officer. At this time it is undetermined which agency the driver is with, no confirmation has been made in regards to whether or not the driver was indeed a law enforcement officer.
The St. Mary's Sheriff's department is not commenting at this time.
As of 2 p.m., authorities have just re-opened Hollywood Road following accident reconstruction.

UDPATE 12:30 p.m.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision which occurred on March 5, at 9:15 a.m. on Hollywood Road at the entrance of the Southern Maryland Electric Company Office in Leonardtown.
Very, early preliminary investigation reveals vehicle # 1, 2004 Toyota truck, was exiting the parking lot of Southern Maryland Electric. Vehicle #2, 2008 Chevrolet sport utility vehicle, was westbound on Hollywood Road. The driver of vehicle #1 pulled into the path of vehicle #2 causing the vehicles to collide. Both vehicles crossed eastbound Hollywood Road and came to rest on the eastbound road side. The driver of vehicle #1 was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. The juvenile passenger in vehicle #1 was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital. The driver of vehicle #2 was uninjured.
The Sheriff's Office Collision Reconstruction Team responded and is continuing the investigation. The names of the parties are being with held pending all notifications. On March 5, around 9:19 a.m., rescue crews responded to a motor vehicle accident with entrapment in the 23300 block of Hollywood Road in Leonardtown in front of the SMECO building.
Two vehicles were involved including a tan Toyota Tacoma Pick-up truck and an silver Chevrolet Trail Blazer.
The 23000 block of Hollywood Road has been shut down for accident reconstruction following the fatal crash.
TBN has crews on the scene and will release more information and photos pending notification of family members and an official police report.
