UPDATE: SHOOTING ON GREAT MILLS ROAD

On Feb. 17 at approximately 3:10 p.m., police responded to the corner of Great Mills Road and Saratoga Drive in Lexington Park for a report of a man lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound.  BCI detectives determined the wound was self inflicted.  The 53-year-old Lexington Park man was pronounced dead on the scene.

TBN has learned that a male has been shot in the area of Great Mills Road and Saratoga in Lexington Park near PNC Bank. Police and rescue units are rushing to the scene now (3 p.m.). Unconfirmed reports are that a male and female were arguing on the sidewalk in front of the bank and the male pulled out a handgun and shot himself in the head.

Details and police report will be updated as they are made available.

Outside the bank?
I wonder if he actually carried his weapon into the bank with him....I can't think of anything that would make me want to kill myself. I just don't get it. It seems that Southern Maryland has more than its share of suicides. I guess he wanted out bad. One positive note though, he didn't take anyone else with him.

What?

If true as stated, what did this accomplish? Is this some kind of power play where he thought he was punishing this woman somehow becuase she has the memory of seeing this? Why do people think they always have to win, always be in charge? And, who lost? The dead guy or the live woman?

It's a shame he is gone, because now he can't see and hear everybody telling him how stupid he was.

For his family and loved ones, you have my deepest sympathies for your loss. Please don't feel like there was anything you could have done to prevent this, because he was the sole person responsible.

why in the heck would that would be on the seen with a toddler; maybe it's just me but i would have quickly removed this child from that scene.

murder take time suicide is not that hard if you known that the man shot him self clean up move to paper work this happen at the same time kids were getting out of school that women in the pic was just one of many i was at the car wash (cleaning my car) they were still there well after they knew the cause so all the blame on the parent is wrong for all you know she could have told the little girl look at the police kids like mine love to see flashing lights

Seriously.

Terrible story. Suicide makes me angry. We've all been low before but I could never imagine missing out on waking up to see my loved ones again, to see a blue sky, experience a thunderstorm, love on my pets, ya know - simple things in life. Its just selfish.

That is no excuse! Even if it were her father, she should not be exposed to suicide/murder/bodies etc. Thats just sick. The child should not have been exposed to that scene at all. There is no way I would ever take my child with me to something like that. These kids see enough crap in the world today without their parents exposing them to something like this. What fond memories she will have of seeing that..............

IF thats not the truth then I dont know what is!!! LOL....FETA blue&red just called you out BIG TIME!!! I live right in that area and this is the 2nd body that has been found within the last month and a half. What is going on? The first body that was found nothing was ever said about it. The only reason why I know anything about it at all is becasue it happened right in front of my house, which is right behind the PNC Bank where this guy was found. Something needs to be done with "the park". Some of the people that live there need to be dealt with all the drugs, prostitution and god knows what else. As many cops as I see on Great Mills road all the time you would think nothing like this would ever happen but I guess it does when all you have is a bunch of cocky a**holes rolling around in their cop cars talking on the phone NOT paying attention.
