Cedar Lane Apartments in Leonardtown is asking for volunteers to help its elderly residents when the elevator is non-operational from Monday, Jan. 26 to Tuesday, Feb. 3, at a minimum. Volunteers are needed to help residents who can’t walk up and down stairs with such tasks as meal delivery and errands. Volunteers will serve as stairwell monitors from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Assistance running activities during the day and possibly delivering meals at dinner time (4 p.m. to 6 p.m.) is also needed.

Volunteer groups are already scheduled on Monday, Jan. 26 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Jan. 28 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m; and Sunday, Feb. 1 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.  (Groups from St. Mary’s Ryken and Great Mills High School will be helping out, but dates and times are not yet scheduled.)  Anyone interested in volunteering should call Janice Pruett at (301) 475-8966 ext. 32 or email at jpruett@cedarlaneapts.com.
