In a two-day enforcement and sting operation held on Dec. 4 and Dec. 5, by the St. Mary’s County Vice Narcotics Division, the unit rounded up multiple drug suspects in a two day intensive series of drug and drug related arrests. In addition to the drug sting, the division also spent time targeting prostitution with some positive results. The arrests were the result of intensive undercover work, which began in June and lasted beyond the summer. During that time, vice narcotics detectives made purchases of cocaine from a group of individuals in the Sandgates area of St. Mary’s County. These suspects used the parking lot of a bar to conduct their illegal drug dealing. “The goal in any investigation such as this is to build a solid case against the suppliers of the narcotics, and not just the middle man,” said division commander, Lt. Daniel Alioto. The division’s efforts were rewarded on Thursday and Friday when William Herman “Billy” Tippett, 34, Russell Wilfred Dufour, 45, David Jodie Quade, 41 and Donald Joseph Taylor Jr., 32, were arrested and indicted on several counts of conspiring to distribute and distribution of cocaine. The individuals were arrested on “No Bond” warrants. Additional charges are pending as the case is reviewed by the State’s Attorney, Richard D. Fritz. The intense sting operations also netted others as part of the effort. Arrested and indicted were: Antonio Jamear Warrick, 18, who was served with a grand jury Indictment for “Possession of Prescription Medication with the Intent to Distribute – Hydrocodone. Robert Oscar Newland, 22 of California, was arrested on a grand jury Indictment for “Manufacturing Marijuana and Possession with Intent to Distribute.” Robert James Pennington, 18 of Valley Lee, was arrested for “Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana” after a grand jury indictment. Marcus Anthony Mills, 21 of Lexington Park, was indicted by Detectives after he was found to be in possession of a quantity of Oxycodone pills that indicated intent to distribute. Detainers were filed on John Columbus Courtney, 38, for Possession with Intent to distribute cocaine. Suspect Courtney is currently serving eight years in the Department of Corrections from a previous felony cocaine conviction. A detainer was also filed on Eric Javon Thomas aka “E,” 28, who is incarcerated in the Calvert County Detention Center for two counts of Distribution of Cocaine. Narcotics Detectives, assisted by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Team, executed a Search and Seizure Warrant in the California area. The target of the warrant was Christina Lorene-Marie Pace, 18. Pace was arrested after felony amounts of marijuana, LSD and Ecstasy were recovered from the home. Additional charges are pending a State’s Attorney’s Office review. A Second Search and Seizure Warrant was executed on a Lexington Park home and Timothy Ignatius Brooks Sr., 42, and Michael Donell Marshall, 35, were arrested for Possession of Marijuana. “This came about because we had the patience to make sure of the facts and built a solid case before we made the arrests,” said Alioto. The division commander went on to say that it had been a very intense busy few months for vice narcotics and that the division was not through yet. During that same two-day period, vice narcotics detectives also conducted a Prostitution sting in the Lexington Park area and arrested the following females: Sheila Christine Vernon, 38, Priscilla Ann Fenwick, 40, Natasha Mauren Kelly, 23, and Nicole Anne Kelly, 23. Additional inquiries should be directed to Lt. Daniel D. Alioto, Commander BCI Vice Narcotics, at 301-475-4200 ext 1918. |
