Teens Set Fully Loaded School Bus on Fire

Maryland State Fire Marshall’s Southern Regional Office is investigating an arson case in Charles County.

Firefighters responded to the 16000 block of Prince Frederick Road in Hughesville, on Nov. 7, around 3:30 p.m., to find a bus on fire.

Investigation revealed, two 13-year-old males had set some items on fire on a Charles County Public School bus # 560 on the afternoon of Nov. 7. The bus was occupied at the time, but no injuries were reported.

The juveniles were released to the custody of their parents and will be referred to the Charles County Department of Juvenile Services for disposition.

UGH........
Cuff them, take them away in the cruiser and process them anyway. More than likely they are not getting any discipline at home or the incident wouldn't have ocuurred in the first place. Releasing them to parents isn't teaching them a lesson-heck, the parents probably defended them. It's about time the the archaic laws are modified when it comes to juvies. They want to be treated and respected like adults, then lets treat them as such.

Agree. The laws for juvenile offenders were put in place back when communications involved newspapers and radio.

In the internet age all kids know the difference between what is legal and illegal. They also know they can get away with ANYTHING because they are juveniles.

Time to change that. Lower the age for juvenile offences to 12. Once you are a teenager you are subject to adult law.

Let the bleeding heart liberals commence to flame ...

Kids need direction
It's the same old story - kids need direction to keep thesmselves focused. Why burn a fully loaded school bus when the St. Mary's Today office is still available?

OMG!!! Poor discipline
Hopefully, the students will be held liable for the damage to the bus, costs to the fire department and law enforcement time to respond to the scene,investigation time etc. and anything else related to this incident.

They should not have been released to their parents, but sent to juvenile detention, no ifs,ands or buts about it.

If I am not mistaken they no longer seal juvenile records when they turn 18, it follows them for life, I am correct.
