Roam If You Want To

HISTORIC ST. MARY'S CITY - 10/7/2008

Roam if you want to!  International Education Week travels to St. Mary’s College of Maryland from Oct. 6 through 10, bringing entertainment and festivities to the campus and community, as well as opportunities for studying abroad. 

SMCM has embraced the challenges and opportunities of an increasingly global community by offering numerous study abroad programs in England, Italy, The Gambia, China, and Thailand. 

The following films held at the campus center and activities are free and open to the public. 

Monday, Oct. 6:  Africa

5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: Documentary Film, “Tubabs in Africa” by Yellow Cat Productions

8 p.m.: South African Film “Tsotsi,” an Oscar winner for Best Foreign Film of the Year

Tuesday, Oct. 7:  Asia

4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.:  Research grant: theater in Japan and the upcoming Kyôgen plays, hosted by Ian Prince

5 p.m.:  Kimono demonstration on the Campus Center patio, hosted by Kathryn Miller and Judy Sellner

8 p.m.:  Japanese hit film, “Paprika”

Wednesday, Oct. 8:  Europe

10 a.m. to 3 p.m.:  Apply for U.S. Passport at Campus Center 205.  Appropriate documents required.

8 p.m.:  Italian film, “Cinema Paradiso,” hosted by Mark Heidrich

Thursday, Oct. 9: Latin America

4:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.: Documentary viewing and discussion: “Faces of Hope” with Prof. Debbie O’Donnell, Prof. Scott Leary, and Aime Mugabonihera

4:30 to 6 p.m.:  Salsa 101: Featuring Donna’s BodyShakers, Campus Center patio

8 p.m.:  Brazilian film, “City of God”
